Dream Drumming

The heat spell has broken and we’re in the summer slide into fall.
At work, the Ohio State Fair approaches and our staff is busy preparing natural resources displays. Display work is a nice change of pace from our normal publications and web projects. These last few days before fair get a bit hectic. See Blair’s pictures from the fair.
Last night Blair hosted his dream party, a drum circle in our music room with some of Columbus most stellar drummers….Tony West, Eric Paton, Wahru and others…complete with dancers.
Thanks to our tolerant neighbors, the group played into the night. It was a cool and lovely evening.
David and Tessa are moving to a new, more spacious apartment. Tessa soon begins teaching at Chatham College and David’s classes at Carnegie Mellon resume. Hillary’s accepted a position at Columbia. BJ continues to groom his faux combover and delights the crowds at local karoake bars with his aging salesman schtick. And it sounds like his audio engineer business at Schwab’s continues to grow.
Cynthia is off to Pingree, Colorado for a weeklong immersion with polymer clay artist friends.

Blair and I have been sticking close to home this summer, enjoying our new addition and trying to tame the yard and rid it of construction debris. We have achieved green but the percentage of grass that makes up that green is less than we had hoped. We ventured down to the DooDah Parade and joined Breakfast Clubbers and neighbors at the Lombardi/Kindred’s for a cookout and a spectacular view of the Whetstone fireworks. Hillary and cousin Lara had a rooftop view of the fireworks and the Empire State Building on the Fourth.
